If the winds of winter are blowing against you, remember that you can harness them and have them carry you toward a great winter destination through the use of your imagination and careful family travel planning.
Now is the time to begin to turn those dreams of a getaway into really by gathering your clan to make some travel plans. A relaxing and/or exciting vacation or holiday need not take two weeks or even one! You don't have even have to travel far.
Consider taking a long weekend to escape to a local or regional bed and breakfast, campground, cabin or even to a hotel (maybe with an indoor pool for a little "summer fun" during the cold months)! Leave the cell phone off, if you can, avoid the temptation to turn on the TV and just get away from the "daily grind" long enough to bring your family closer together to enjoy some winter activities in a new location.
Try playing tourist in the next county. You just may be amazed at what you have missed in your own "back yard." Be sure to see the sights (winter can be a unique season - snow or no) and take in the local flavor offered by local merchants (chances are they'll appreciate the business).
Much of the fun of winter travel for the family is in the planning. Get all of the family involved in your winter getaway plans to ensure that there is something for everyone. Once you've made the plans and reservations, please be sure to make the proper preparations for your trip. Have all the winter travel gear checked!
The memories you make on your getaway will keep your family warm through the rest of the winter!
